ESCLUSIVA - Kevin Yamga: "All'Esteghlal inseguo il titolo. Che ricordi del Chievo. E quei duelli con Calabria..."

Il calcio permette di fare autentici giri del mondo, e vivere esperienze inimmaginabili: è il caso di Kevin Yamga, che nel giro di pochissimi anni è passato dalle avventure in Italia a una nuova vita da stella in Iran. Il 25enne, nato esterno offensivo e ora trasformato in punta da Farhad Majidi, è infatti il terminale offensivo dell'Esteghlal che insegue il titolo nella terra dei persiani, con tre gol in tre partite nell'ottimo avvio della squadra allenata in passato da Andrea Stramaccioni. Una vita nuova per Yamga, cresciuto nella Primavera del Chievo e vincitore dello Scudetto giovanile nel 2013-14, prima di iniziare una lunga avventura in giro per l'Italia: dopo i prestiti nelle fila di Siena, Arezzo, Carpi e Pescara, l'esterno offensivo si è rilanciato in patria nello Chateauroux, prima di vivere importanti avventure estere. I suoi agenti (Fabio Firmani e Matteo Mayer con la KeyScout Football Agency) l'hanno portato prima in Portogallo (Desportivo Aves) e poi in Danimarca (Vejle), qualche settimana la partenza dell'avventura iraniana con l'Esteghlal, dov'è l'unico straniero insieme all'ex Premier League Rudy Gestede e il terminale offensivo di una formazione che sogna ora il titolo. Yamga si è raccontato così ai microfoni di Nicoloschira.com. 

LA SFIDA IRANIANA - "Avevo qualche timore prima di trasferirmi qui, ma mi sto trovando benissimo e sto vivendo un'avventura molto emozionante. Ho avuto un impatto importante e un'ottima accoglienza dai tifosi, che prima ancora della firma ufficiale mi avevano contattato su Instagram e sui social per darmi il benvenuto. Non mi era mai successo nulla del genere e mi sono sentito subito amato. Peccato che non possano ancora venire allo stadio e darci un'ulteriore spinta dagli spalti, anche se forse dalla prossima gara sarà possibile avere il pubblico allo stadio. Il tifo qui è caldissimo, l'Esteghlal è una squadra davvero molto amata. Che obiettivi mi sono posto? Volevo segnare più di quanto non avessi segnato finora, raggiungendo 7-8 gol. Ora però, visto che sto giocando molto più avanzato rispetto a ciò che mi aspettavo, sogno la doppia cifra". 

L'ESTEGHLAL - "Qui puntiamo a vincere il campionato, che manca da tantissimi anni ed è stato spesso conquistato dai rivali del Persepolis. Parlando con la dirigenza sono stati chiarissimi, l'obiettivo è vincere. Si tratta di una sfida molto importante. Devo ammettere che il livello del calcio in Iran mi ha sorpreso: tanti giocatori hanno ottime qualità e potrebbero farsi strada in Europa. Sin qui abbiamo giocato contro squadre che giocano a calcio con personalità. Forse i loro calciatori non sono molto alti o fisicamente strutturati, ma giocano benissimo con o senza palla". 

CITTADINO DEL MONDO - "Non ho preclusioni per nessun mondo calcistico, anzi mi piacere conoscere e scoprire nuove realtà. Grazie ai miei agenti ho avuto la possibilità di girare parecchio all'estero, mi hanno trovato negli ultimi anni soluzioni molto interessanti e importanti". 

LE AVVENTURE ITALIANE - "Ho vinto il campionato Primavera col Chievo, poi sono passato professionista in Italia vivendo tante avventure in prestito e conoscendo difficoltà in alcune situazioni. Ho fatto bene al Siena e all'Arezzo, forse ho sbagliato qualcosa negli anni a venire. Il Carpi è stato una scelta dell'ultimo momento e dell'ultimo giorno: sarei dovuto andare all'Ascoli, ma il giocatore che doveva farmi spazio è rimasto e dunque è saltato tutto. Ho scelto il Carpi e non sono riuscito a dimostrare ciò che sapevo fare, anche forse per colpa mia, tra i tanti motivi. Ero giovane e non ancora pronto. A Pescara sono stato sfortunato: ero andato con e per Zeman, ho giocato le prime quattro partite col mister, che poi è stato esonerato venendo sostituito prima da Epifani e poi da Pillon. Di fatto, nei mesi seguenti ho giocato pochissimo".

L'ADDIO ALL'ITALIA E LE SFIDE SEGUENTI - "Le delusioni nelle mie ultime esperienze italiane mi hanno spinto a lasciare il vostro paese. Ho deciso di tornare in Francia e scendere in seconda divisione con lo Chateauroux, dove ho visto sempre il campo e ho giocato con continuità, mettendomi in mostra e facendo leva sulle mie qualità. Da lì in poi, sia in Portogallo che in Danimarca ho sempre trovato spazio e le cose sono andate bene. E poi, qualche mese fa, è nata questa opportunità. I miei agenti avevano contatti con l'Esteghlal, loro cercavano un giocatore con le mie caratteristiche e abbiamo trovato subito un punto d'incontro. Sto vivendo una sfida che sognavo: non ho mai giocato in una squadra che lotta per vivere, è tutto un altro mondo. Ho enormi stimoli". 

ZEMAN - "Un personaggio e una persona particolare. Parlava poco, ma dava tanto. Mi piaceva giocare nel suo sistema, peccato che sia durato poco, ma mi ha dato insegnamenti importanti. Cosa mi ricordo di lui? Tanta, tantissima corsa. Gli allenamenti del lunedì, 45 minuti di corsa senza toccar palla (ride, ndr)".

IL RICORDO ITALIANO - "Il mio principale ricordo resta il campionato vinto col Chievo, un'emozione grandissima per me. L'anno seguente non abbiamo vinto, ma ho fatto moltissimi gol e sono arrivato con grande slancio tra i professionisti. Sento ancora molti ex compagni: sono in contatto con Mbaye (ex Chievo, ndr), sento Gravillon con cui giocavo nel Pescara e molti altri, con più o meno frequenza. Del Chievo ricordo il titolo, ma anche i tanti duelli con Calabria: lui giocava nel Milan, spesso ci sfidavamo sulla fascia ed era bravissimo. Aveva grande qualità, sentivo che poteva fare strada". 

L'IDOLO - Da ragazzo ammiravo Thierry Henry, lo guardavo e lo riguardavo, apprezzando la sua rapidità e tecnica. Come me è nato esterno offensivo e poi si è riadattato attaccante, e giocando molto sulla fascia è subito diventato il mio idolo". 

SOGNI PER IL FUTURO - "Ora come ora il mio sogno sarebbe vincere il campionato in Iran, per il resto si vedrà. Si vuole sempre arrivare più in alto o fare grandi stagioni, ma per ora penso solo a questo. Sono totalmente focalizzato sull'Esteghlal".

Football favours the accomplishment of living unimaginable experiences and travelling around the world: it is the instance of Kevin Yamga, who became a star in Iranian football after his adventures in Italy. The 25-year-old player, who was born as a winger and has transformed as a striker under Farhad Majidi, is the centre-forward of Esteghlal F.C., chasing the title in the land of Persia, with three goals in 3 matches in the excellent start of the season by the team previously managed by Andrea Stramaccioni. A new life for Yamga, raised in the “Primavera” team of Chievo and winner of the 2013-14 “Primavera” league, before embarking on a long journey through Italy: after the loans at Siena, Arezzo, Carpi and Pescara, the attacking winger revitalised himself at Chateauroux in France, before taking off to foreign adventures. At first, his agents Fabio Firmani and Matteo Mayer from KeyScout Football Agency transferred him to Desportivo Aves in Portugal, then to Vejle in Denmark. A few weeks ago, he left for the new Iranian experience, where he is the only foreign player along with former Premier League forward Rudy Gestede in a team that dreams of the title. THE IRANIAN CHALLENGE

“I had some concerns before coming here, but now I am very comfortable, and I am living an exciting adventure. I had an important impact and a welcoming reception from the fans, who contacted me on Instagram to welcome me even before the actual signature. It was something that never happened, and I felt loved immediately. Unfortunately, the fans cannot come to the stadium and give us a boost from the stands, but probably it may be possible that they will be present from the next round. Fans cheer a lot, and Esteghlal is a beloved team here. What are my goals?  I wanted to score more than I ever scored, and now, since I play in a more advanced position, I dream the double-digit.”

ESTEGHLAL

“We look forward to winning the title here, which we have not won for a long time and has been secured many times by the rivals of Persepolis. The management has been very clear about this, and the objective is to win the league. It is a significant challenge. I must admit that the level of Iranian football surprised me: many players have relevant qualities and could come to play in Europe. Until now, we performed against teams which play football with personality. Maybe the players are not much tall nor physically structured, but they play very well with and without the ball.”

CITIZEN OF THE WORLD

“I do not have foreclosures for any football world. I like to know and discover new realities. I have had the opportunity to move around the world thanks to my agents, who found me rather intriguing and significant solutions in the last couple of years.”

THE ITALIAN ADVENTURES

“I won the “Primavera” championship with Chievo, before moving to professionalism in Italy. I transferred much on loan, and I got to experience certain difficult situations. I did well at Siena and Arezzo. Possibly, I made some mistakes in the following years. Carpi was a last-minute deal: I should have transferred to Ascoli but, the player, whom I had to replace, stayed eventually, and thus the arrangement was off. I chose Carpi, but I could not demonstrate my abilities, and maybe it was my fault, among the various reasons. I was young and not ready yet. I was unlucky at Pescara: I moved there with and for Zeman, I played the first four matches with him, but he got sacked and replaced by Epifani and Pillon. The following months I played very few games.”

FAREWELL TO ITALY AND THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES

“The disappointing experiences made me leave the country. I decided to go back to France and move to Chateauroux in the French second division. There, I always had the chance to play and show off pushing with my skills. Since then, things have been great. I could always start the line-up, both in Portugal and Denmark. A few months ago, the Esteghlal opportunity arose. My agents had contacts with the team. It was looking for a player with my characteristics, and we immediately reached an agreement. I am living a challenge I dreamed of: I have never played for a club that could fight for the title. It is completely different. I have a huge motivation.”

ZEMAN

“He is a character and a particular person. He never talked much, but he gave a lot. I loved playing in his module, it is a regret that he lasted little, but I received influential teachings from him. What do I remember from him? Running, much running. The Monday training was like 45 minutes of running without the ball (laugh, NDR).”

THE ITALIAN RECOLLECTION

“My main reminiscence remains the title with Chievo, an unforgettable feeling. We did not win the following year, but I scored many goals that gave me momentum to the switch to professionalism.  I am still in touch with my former teammates: I am in contact with Mbaye (former Chievo player), Gravillon, whom I played with at Pescara, and many others. From Chievo, I remember the title but also the many duels with Calabria: He was playing for A.C Milan, often we would take on the side, and he was very talented. He had great skills, and I knew he could lead the way.”

THE IDOL

“I admired Thierry Henry when I was a boy. I was watching and watching him many times, appreciating his speed and technique. He was born as a winger like me, and then he adapted to be a striker. As I was playing much on the side, he immediately became my idol.

DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE

“I would love to win the Iranian title, then we will see. You always want to reach the top and play fantastic seasons. I just think of the present. I focus on Esteghlal”.
